PID = Pricy, Incomprehensible Device (or maybe Proportional, Integral, Derivative) controller. Essential for RIMS and HERMS brewers (oops, that just made things worse).

When people say they 'aerated the wort after the yeast went in' - does this just mean giving the liquid in the FV a good stir?

I always go for the European lager, with the lager yeast. No need for any hop teas. With 1 kg BKE. tastes like Stella.

what is BKE???

HLT = hot liquor tank. It is the vessel used for heating up your strike water (mixed with grain, becomes mash) and heating up you sparge water.
