Well done, Orlando, an excellent tutorial, (even with the occasional unscheduled results).
Best wishes

Yeah bit embarrassing. I was really distracted that day what with travel plans and trying to photograph everything and trying to make notes, it was inevitable it would go awry. But you know what that wort tasted bloody fantastic, unfortunately it has had to fend for itself as I'm in Scotland right now.

Really good post orlando. =D>

Very useful to those starting out and also interesting for other AG brewers.

We all have our own way of doing things but its good to get ideas from others of better / different ways of doing things.

Sounds like a lovely brew.

Thanks John, appreciate the plaudits. I love hearing contrary views, especially if they are backed by some reasoning and/or reference to other sources. I suspect all of us has arrived at where we are by a mixture of reading, anecdotes and our own experience, not least with the particular kit set up that we have. I think that a lot of my technique is also driven by my setup and how I have learned to roll with it. I'm sure that when I completely "upgrade" my initial brews will be a setback as I fully expect to have to relearn how to get the best out of the changes made.

For a beginner like me that's just brilliant! A proper step-by-step 'how to'. Many thanks.

Thank you for yet another outstanding pictorial post. It rather takes some of the sting out of not me not having the time to do a full-on brew day myself :)

It's guys like you that I had in mind before doing this. When you first start it is really daunting, not least because of conflicting advice. What you need is the 10 to 2 British School of Motoring instruction course. That's one of the reasons I recommend GW's book, it strips the process down to bare minimum and supplies quick, easy and ready answers to "what do I do next". Once you are up and running the sophisticated stuff is something to explore once you already have a grasp of the basics. Someone on here the other day said that the best time to read the books you buy is not the first time, when a lot of it passes you by, it's once you have a solid grasp of the basics, then the stuff starts to make sense. I'm only just beginning to get an idea of water treatment and keep reading the same things over and over again and slowly the mist begins to rise.

Good luck with the hill your climbing, getting to the top is really rewarding. (Influence of my Highlands excursion there). You'll soon be motoring along with one arm dangling out the window the other lightly steering your course.

All right that's enough

Thanks for the encouragement :)

I've been reading Graham Wheelers book several times over. Can't wait to put it all into practice.

Nice to see how someone else does it!

I hope there'll be a photo or two of the finished article in a glass?

I have the Igloo cool box too, I like the insulation, I'll do that for mine it'll be better than wrapping it in a hot water cylinder jacket and two coats!!

Cheers Orlando nice one!!
