Not brewed a 5 gal batch in a long time, the brews on going so ill post pictures later.
love this beer and I've tried and failed a few times following various recipes so I thought I'd do my own attempt based on what I know works and a few tweaks.the grain bill is standardly 90% pale and 10% special B but it's always been not right for my taste.
My Attempt
Maris otter 6.41kg
special B 500g
biscuit 500g
wheat 100
Candi dark sugar 200g
29g chinook 90 m first wort
29g chinook 45 m
29g chinook 15 m
25g chinook 0 m
Whilfloc 15
gypsum 10g mash and 10g boil
Fermented with O4

Hi Alix
As woblylegs says, We did a batch of this magnificent brew the other week.
Turned out fantastic.
Same recipe except we didnt use any biscuit, wheat or candi.
What are you hoping they to bring to the party.
Used Notty.
Tastes amazing.
I'll drop a couple of bottles around to you.

I had tried a few attempts I'd found 10% special B overpowering I wanted to keep the EBC similar and without adding crystal , which is where the biscuit came in.
It also has a nice flavour in malty beers.
The wheat was for a nice white head standard for me and the candi sugar was added to increase a the ABV but mainly to add dryness to the mouthfeel it has again more character than standard sugar and works well in triples and doubles.
I messed up my volume slightly so only had 1064 which is well under what it should of been but will still be a decent beer.

Chinook is incredible
I'm hoping it goes down to 1008 then I should be 7.4% spot on
but with the sugar it should of been 1072 I also used pellets instead of leaf so I had little soak up from the hops ...

Those recipes all sound like delicious beer, but you wanna know the big secret about Arrogant Bastard?
100% Munich Malt. Chinook hops.
A flagship brand and international phenom made from a single malt and a single hop?! I know, crazy right? One might even say arrogant. If you're trying to clone this beer, you simply do not need those other specialty grains. Munich is kilned lightly enough that there are still sufficient enzymes to convert the starches to sugars, but kilned darkly enough to provide enormous malty flavour and amber colour. Use a low mash temp and highly attenuative yeast. That's it.

Interesting Seymour ive not heard of it being a smash brew before the chinook was a given and proven in the past, and I could see how munich would work as a base but surely it has something else to make it so dark I thought special B was also a given.
I'll give it a go if this fails.

My assumption was based on CYBI episode when Jamil deemed this beer cloned, grist composition was 90/10 2 row / Special B.
I would check the Munich idea if I liked Chinook at all.
