EEEEEEEEE, It's good fun this brewin !!!!! :D

I'd like to post this public thank you to Garth, whose home I was at most of yesterday, after he kindly agreed to let me watch him at work after I posted a request the other day,as I fancied delving into this strange world of squidgymashhubblebubblestuff.

What a nice man!

Friendly and obviously knowledgable,he let me get "hands on" at all stages, provided coffee and bacon sarnies at suitable times during the day, took me to H&G to buy a few bits, and even donated some of his own to the cause .

He answered all my questions, gave some very good tips, was very easy to get on with ,and was just generally a very good advert for this site.,and the people on it. He's even going to come over to my house when I'm ready to do my first brew, and oversee things so that I produce something half decent ( with my new scales,in grams, bought at lidl's today for £4.99,after them priced at £7.99 on the lidl's website
:) )

What a guy !!

Thanks very much for an enjoyable day Garth

 *blushes*

aww shucks, it was no problem.... it was nice to have a willing helper, glad you enjoyed yourself.

I think I missed your call yesterday Tom, did you have any joy ordering those elements?

glad you got those scales, what a bargain, maybe you should post them in the bargain basement, they're a quarter of the price what I paid.

btw, the brew kicked off last night, I had to skim it this morning as the crap kicked up by the yeast was not letting any white head form, there was loads of it, but it's looking canny now and smelling great..

Here's the recipe for anyone interested

the element order went thro ok,now its just wait and see if they're actually in stock, will let you no if they turn up or not. You're right, will post in bargain basement, got bit of a shock when till only came up 4.99 ! woohoo ! Also put bid in on ebay for refract same as yours, 99P so far with 4.99 postage, could be ANOTHER bargain with a bit of luck!

J P-Garth is in charge of pics for "our" brew,(coz it's at his house, but when I actually start, will certainly post pics of MY first one ( chest swells with pride

:) )

Grandads Brown Ale----- thats the FIRST recipe goin in promash then !!!! :D

BTW boys, when Garth got his block of hops out needing 26g, he chopped off a chunk, put on scales and, ------- 26g !!! How many years practice did THAT take?

Years ago when I did one or two kits, a tip I was given was to put a slice of toast on the surface to pick up the scum

Its sounding good (licks lips)

Glad you had a good day Taxmackem, the lads on this site have helped me no end getting the quality of my brew to a better standard. :D

Here's a good tip if you brew in plastic buckets like me, just wrap everything in tin foil giving the appearance of a 'shiny' brewery.
No flies on me eh? :D
