Re: FUBAR bitter brew day
I have a question with regards to Easy Kegs . I'm not at the stage where I have a full brewing system at home do I'm still using beer kits , which I do enjoy doing. Would I be able to use Easy Kegs for a kit brew & would it need priming?

It doesn’t make if it’s a kit brew, you can use an easy keg (the mini 5L things) to serve, just make sure that you prime appropriately (I believe it’s about half the amount that you would use for bottling but I am sure someone will confirm this shortly).Crafty Tim wrote:I have a question with regards to Easy Kegs . It also depends how quickly it will be drunk, using a party star tap keeps a protective blanket of CO2 on the beer but if you use the normal tap then it allows air in, so you only have a matter of days to drink it before it starts to spoil from oxidation.
Re: FUBAR bitter brew day
For the 5L minikegs, I'd advise no more than 11g sugar for priming, less if you only want a light/low level of carbonation.

Re: FUBAR bitter brew day
The easy kegs are a brilliant way of packaging IMO, however they won't suit all styles, wheat beers and heavier carbonated beers won't work, however for just about anything else is great.
No expert but I wouldn't recommend putting a beer that requires more than 2 vols of carbing in.
This bitter turned out really good and didn't last long, just put my IPA in these today.

Nice mate. It's really nice and smooth. Definitely get the chocolate taste. It appears to be keeping well in the barrel too despite it was supposed to be bottled

Thanks mate. First stout I've done and never used Cooper's before. Got my eye on a triple hopped IPA next

Re: FUBAR bitter brew day
Was the extra pale MO responsible for your low efficiency?

Re: FUBAR bitter brew day
No idea, I seem to get differing efficiency on my brews.
It's seems when I use this malt which I have a lot of, my efficiency is all over the place.

Re: FUBAR bitter brew day
I read something regarding the extra pale being a bit poop on the efficiency front. No first hand experience though.
