Live IPA brew day
Live IPA brew day
Decided to brew an IPA today and update as I go along.
I am currently 50 mins into and 90 mash and so far so good.
Here are a few pics so far.
The refractometer reading is from 30 mins into the mash.
I only carry out longer mashes because I carry out no sparge pretty much every time I brew.

I can't seem to figure out how to post multiple pics in one reply lol

Looks good. Does the BrewMonk not heat up at the bottom that much? I was just surprised to see it being used directly on your floor.
Re: Live IPA brew day
Not had any problems with it in the floor so far, the base is pretty much cold.
Just done a mash out, now waiting for the grain basket to drain........... SLOWLY lol

Nice to see a brew day documented
I am far too clumsy to risk brewing next to the sofa!

I brew in the conservatory, sofa is for decoration as nobody ever sits on it, especially these days.
Wish the wife would let me have a bar in here instead lol

Re: Live IPA brew day
So I have to different pre boil gravities, hydro reads 1.044 and refrac read 1.040 so I'm going with 1.042.
Efficiency is down a bit from my average if 66% so far, but I'm sure will still make a tasty beer.
