I've got another question on a related topic. My wife has got me a 2nd hand top tap king keg while i have been away and i am wondering if there is an adaptor on the market which i can use incorp a relief valve, pressure gauge and co2 injection point onto the king keg cap. This 3 way combination is on my wee beer machine barrel and its great for monitoring pressure during ferment in a sealed enviroment. I'd like to fit the same thing to my king keg so i will have the facility to pour under pressure and top up with co2. Any advice on where to get a good sized co2 bottle as well would be appreciated as my beer machine barrel uses the wee soda siphon co2 carts and they are finished before you know it in the beer machine as fluid volume drops.

I'm not familiar with caramunich, but I certainly wouldn't be giving it 200g of crystal, maybe 50g?. Can those with more experience than me advise.

Tasting wise it's actually quite a delicate thing, far, far too quaffable for the 5.5% I can't really pick out the hops but there's a nice spicy hint from the yeast. I think this would be better in a bierkeller than from the bottle though. Would be no problem to harvest the yeast from the bottle, there's a truck load in there!

I had beem planning on doing my hops and crystal on their own in a few Ltrs of water in a smaller pan. Is there any benefit to also boiling the tinned Liquid extract or should i just put that pre warmed in the tin directly into the FV? If there is a benefit i would do the malt and hops in suspended muslin bags with a water extract mix in a big stock pot. Sorry if this obvious stuff but i don't want to miss a trick on this brew.

I have wimped out and am going to stick with making beers. Lagers can wait for winter when Scottish climate will help their fermentation in the garage.

Going to try a partial mash with the 1/2 kg of Caramalt, also going to use 1 kg of light spraymalt and a 1/4 kg of the wheat spray malt with maybe a touch of the crushed crystal malt for colour if needed. Using this as a basis i will use the Bulldog LME. Hops will probably be the Perle. probably use T58 yeast Going to the chinese supermarket when i get onshore for a BIG pot. Will post with pics in brewdays section next week, any comments/advice appreciated.

The 2nd batch will be a darker beer using the marris otter, challanger hops, dark spraymalt remaining wheat spray malt. All are based on approx on 1.6 kg LME and 1.2 to 1.3 kgs of various spraymalts for approx 23 ltr batch.
