If your tap water tastes good, use it I say. If there's any chlorine taste, treat it with Campden tablets. You should be alright in Barheid.

Thanks mysterio

I only ask because I'm new to beer brewing and along with the Coopers kit I got my hands on there was an instruction dvd that shows you the process step by step, and they use bottled water so I ran down to my local Tesco and picked up 12x2 liter still water.

It is my first brew so better to be safe and sound. :) :)

I have been in discussion with Barnsley Brewer (John) about water treatment recently.

John sent me a thread by DaaB about using cheap water from ASDA?

Hope this helps :)

Thanks Highwayman

As it only adds a couple p per pint I think I will continue to use bottled water as all of my friends when they come over from Denmark complain about the clorin taste in the tap water.
I cant tast it thoug, but maybe I'm just used to the water..

I've used bottled water before, but that was mainly because I wanted the bottles.

I didn't notice any difference in flavour, especially with a kit. If you are extract brewing I do use a powder I forget the name now, to get the calcium level right. Ask the local homebrew shop.

If you have a local water supply that has a lot of chlorine then I would filter the water first, this takes an age though.
