I can vouch for the Hambledon Bard lager supreme kit, it is one of Mrs H's favourites, before I converted to AG I made the Hambledon Bard Old English Ale, it turned out qiute well if my memory serves me correctly.

Expensive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love it's easy to handle qualities though for weighing - I think I'll always use it in conjunction with the liquid tins to make up recipes.

I used to brew with all spray malt because I thought it produced better beer than the stuff in tins.

I've used all spraymalt in the past. I too thought it was better than LME. I love the way it smells just like Horlicks :D

Actually, I just split up my Whitelabs starter on Saturday, and I had a couple of pints of wort to spare, so I bottled them (I used hopped light spraymalt to make up the starter wort).

It tastes OK (couldn't resist) but it seems quite cloudy, and I don't think it's the yeast, as the main batch of beer I made shortly after with the same batch of yeast fell crystal clear after a week in the fermenter. :?

I'll report on it after it's had time to sit in the bottles for a week or two. 8)

Do you mean JUST DME?

When I made extract beers I used to only use DME rather than LME. Every brew did include specialty grain though.

I think the closest I got to a pure DME was 2.5Kg DME and 500g of CaraPils

My first brew was DME, Cascade hops, Danstar Windsor and some crushed coriander … from an online beginners brewing course that got me started this Spring. It was great for sussing out HB without shelling out on shiny stuff.

Of course, everyone who did it seems to have got the bug now.

In case it might be of interest to anyone reading, the course is here - http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?showtopic=85652
