How long to clear?

Post by Walrus81 » Mon Oct 20, 2008 5:38 pm

Hello,

Bottled on Friday evening, from primary FV.

Just had a check to see if brew is clearing but it does not seem to be. Any idea how long it would take to clear?

Cheers

This depends a lot on the yeast you're using. I'm using Wyeast Brit Ale 2 at the moment and it takes about 2 weeks to clear (with about 9 days of that in the garage in cool temperatures). To be honest, you don't really want to be drinking it any earlier than 2 weeks of conditioning for it to reach a decent flavour, so the way I see it is there's no point fretting over cloudy beer a few days in as it just isn't ready yet. :)

Fermenting: nowt (sadly). Drinking: still a few bottles of my imperial stout knocking about . . . it's rather good now
