Black treacle

Can you use black treacle in extract recipes?, I wondered if you could use it instead of sugar-dme or is it better just had a little for flavour. :?

Would it be best to add it at primary fermenting or when bottling?

Careful with treacle. It is very strong. Too much will dominate your beer.

I was thinking of doing another wheelers Murphys stout recipe but adding treacle, the idea was to boil the treacle in a pan to get to taste like burnt toffee and add it to the mix?
