lokking to come up with a nice easy lager recipe to add to my collection of brews to do in a month when i return to england.
after having a search around on the forum i found one from horden hillbilly. this is an all grain recipe and i would like to convert it to extract.
this is his:
Lager recipe
Lager Malt 2816g
British Caramalt 402g
Flaked Maize 402g
Brewing Sugar 402g
Saaz Hops 20 Bittering units, added at start of the boil.
Estimated OG 1042
i was thinking of dropping the flaked maze as it has to be mashed and using some sugar intstaed to lighten the brew up. i understand after reading a feew threads that the flaked maze would add a little flavour as well but thought it would be ok to leave it out?
heres what i was thinking for an extract version:
23 lires - OG 1.042 - 4.5% - colour 13 EBC (all calulated on beer engine)
2.1kg plae DME
400g white/brewers sugar
400g caramalt ( can this just be steeped for 30 mins as you would with say crystal malt?)
60g saaz 3.3AA - 90 min boil
safale s-23 yeast
please make any better adjustments to it and any advice on fermenting and lagering temps and times would be great.
cheers

Do you now have an ever growing list of extract recipes??sam c wrote:nice one chris, i will be adding that one to the list then.
I'm trying to stop adding new ones in Beer Engine as I'll simply never get around to them all!!

i do seem to have an ever growing list!! and i wont even be able to do any for at least a month, but it is good fun comming up with recipes and learning along the way. i plan on keeping this hobby going so hopefuly i will get to do quite a few of them.
