Lovely fermentation heads and measuring gravity

Post by mcbrew » Tue Jun 16, 2009 7:03 pm

Guys,

I'm on my third brew. Until this time I've never had a good solid fermentation head. In order to measure the gravity, I will have to break my lovely fermentation head. Is this Ok to do or is there some other craft technique that can be adopted?

Kind regards.

Having a spigot at the bottom of your FV is a good idea for this purpose. Or if you've got a massive pipette you could pierce through it. Otherwise, theres no problem breaking through the head, just be careful with sanitation.
