Greene King Pale Ale - D Lines Recipe

Hi,

I was bought Dave Lines Book Brewing beers like those you buy for my birthday...

I fancied giving this a bash as I enjoy a good Pale Ale and I have the ingredients to hand... is there anything I should know as the book looks dated and appears to be from the late 70's...

Is receipe relevant to todays extracts yeasts etc?

I've heard comments in various places that some of his recipes are a bit optimistic, but this seems to refer mainly to his AG brews...

I'd be grateful if anyone has a tried and tasted version or something similar...

My first extract brew was ok but not sufficiently bittered, but that could have been due to my inexperience and getting the ratio of LME and hops and or not boiling the hopss for long enough...

Please asssit if you can!

:)

Many thanks in advance

Guy

Hi,

Thanks for the reply!

I actually like well hopped beers so may just adjust either the hops or malt quantity...

Or would that be misguided?

Ah,

Yes that makes sense!

Otherwise I'd have affected the OG...
Thanks for your tips!
:)

I'm going to try a small batch to see how I get on and adjust as required from there....
