Over the past week or two Ive been reading up about brewing lager (on various web sites) and am a bit confused about diactyl rest. Originally, I had intended to wait until my lager was 3/4 of the way to its expected FG but have seen a number of conflicting statements about this. Some recommend moving to diactyl rest 1/2 way through fermentation, some say 3/4and some say wait for the fermenting head to fall back into the brew....
Im always a bit skeptical about information written by 'experts' on the internet and thought I'd ask a group of people who I know, know (if that makes sense). Whats the general consensus?

When to move to diactyl rest?....
Re: When to move to diactyl rest?....
When I've been making lager recently I tend to let it warm up to room temperature on transfer between primary and secondary - in other words, after the initial fermentation has finished. But I'm not sure whether its really necessary. Since its been so cold recently I haven't bothered and its made not difference.
