It's only taken 15 months since moving house to get the kit old kit re-installed and a test brew completed! :oops:

Empty copper - Hop filter got blocked due to too much fine trub from using a coarse grain bag!

A shade over 50 ltrs and only 2 points below expected OG - we hit 1045

Yeast starter was really active so here's hoping for a good fermentation. :D

Very nice set-up there Mixbrewery, now you have run her in, will you be doing a AG batch in the near future?

HLT & Mash tun are under construction and will hopefully be ready for a test run in a few weeks. You can see the HERMS heating coil ready
for the HLT in the first piccy.

Actually DaaB, it was a cock-up!
I put the maize in the grain bag with the crystal thinking it was the barley :oops:
So then added a second bag with the barley 15 mins later....

Malt extract was Brupaks dark - 15kg bulk pack
It was about 6 months past the "best before date" - it looked, smelt and tasted ok. :D

Just checked - and its bubbling nicely. Its in the garage still so i wrapped the fermenter with a camping mat over night.

Fermentation progress.....

18 hours on the left - things starting to move!
24 hours on the right - Time to change the airlock bottle -moved to a 1 gallon demijohn half full of water- see how it copes overnight 8)

Garage brewery means you can keep everything out of the kitchen. Which means those with SWMBO's earn a few more brownie points! :wink:
