Help with Norfolk Nog kit

Post by mr lil » Wed Aug 22, 2007 11:18 pm

Hello everyone, My first post here and hope to be a regular.
At the moment I have a Woodfordes Norfolk Nog kit fermenting as we speak. However, I've thrown away the box with the instructions and cant remember if I need to add sugar when I barrel it up...
As its a malt extract kit I've not needed to add any sugar to the wort, but, I'd hate to screw my batch up by not adding any sugar to my barrel at the weekend and it be flat!!
Can anyone help
Many thanks
Paul :D

Hi Paul,

I'm just supping a pint of this as we speak, and very nice it is too.
I kegged mine into a corny keg with 60grams of sugar. I used dark Muscavado but only because I had some in the cupboard, I'm sure normal white sugar will do just as well for priming.
I only put 19 litres into the corny (put the rest in PET bottles) so you might want to up it to 70 or 75g for a 5 gallon keg.

Cheers,
Kev

Marvellous....sounds good.
I've used muscovado for my stout and glucose powder for priming the barrel.
So I still need to prime the barrel.
Thanks for your quick response....looking forward to trying this

I've always primed my barrels at a maximum of 3oz of sugar....is this about the same??
