Well, I have finally got round to brewing after a long break. Because I am still busy, I haven't the time to do a full days AG brew so I will be doing an extract brew.
Now back when I used to do extract, I used to steep all my speciality grains like a good little boy.
For one of the first times, I am going to make a clone (or as close as I can do as I might not have any roast barley!!!!). Dave Line's Old Peculier from BBLTYB. Now I am quite shocked. The first line of the 'instructions' states -
1. Boil the malt extract, malt grains and hops in water for 45 minutes.
Do I really want to be boiling these grains? Doesn't sound like good practise to me!!!!
Really boil???
