I'll update this post when I've made it and maybe then I'll know which is best for me. That maybe a few weeks yet.
Shame about your broken themometer there Dan. Cheers

Cut back on the sugar and the glucose, only use malt extract, that'll help get rid of that homebrew taste, breweries don't use sugars like that, so that's that makes it homebrew taste, if you get me.

I've only ever added about 150g just to boost the og a little; would that still give off quite a lot of taste?

Hi
Just an update on my extract brews. The 1st one was an ESB, I stuck to the recipe, But in my opinion it had too much sugar for my liking. Next I made a porter, which in the early stages was way to chocolatey, But after about a month. Wow what a fantastic brew. The chocolate has smoothed out and mellowed it tastes great. Im having this as my christmas drinks. I now think that useing Spraymalt is a fine way to make an extract brew except for the expence. I used a lot of spraymalt. I have now started experimenting with AG. Its not such a big step from extract. Im useing a larg pan on the stove. The taste is better. I mashed in an oven in a 10 Liter pan. It worked well, but was alot of work for the small amount of beer produced. So have just made a cooler box mash tun. I think I've moved to All Grain without noticing.
