Yeah it does seem like asking for trouble. I thought it was important to pitch the yeast quickly so it can establish dominance and push back any unwanted yeasts.
Not to mention the benefits of a cold break for getting the proteins to drop, therefore a fast chill is advised ?

ICs are dead easy to make. I bent mine freehand. It doesn't look as pretty as some of the beautifully engineered examples which have been shown on the forum but it's probably just as effective.
