Re: new brew
Yup, going well. My latest brew is burping every two seconds, so some way to go yet.
Do you have a hydrometer, mark14? Would be worth checking the current gravity. Sometimes beers continue to burp after the initial fermentation is finished just because they are losing the carbon dioxide dissolved in the beer.

hi all, tastes yucky, not vinegar, bit sour, hydrometer reads 1.015, i have some oats so i will boil to use as nutriment, re pitch, , should i put new yeast in, with say 500gr table sugar, to get it going as no action re air lock, should i try to save or bin, maybe if i left it on the lees for a few days then prime bottle and wait ? , thanks for help cheers, as an after thought my fist brew has nearly gone it was ok
Re: new brew
hi all, i took this in to my own hands and ground 10 grams grains of paradise and 10 grams juniper berries , 1 pound sugar and started a yeast going in seperate container with i squeeze of lemon 5 grams more yeast for starter, waited 1 hour, then sprinkled paradise and juniper over top put lid on shook a lot then added starter, it has took off every 8 secs, i will wait for no reaction , leave 4 days then prime and bottle drink after two weeks, i have looked through this forum and googled, hope i have got it right, it has been a worrying brew, as i am a novice . cheers fingers crossed, i also boiled 100 grams oats strained and added as a nutriment
