Final Gravity 1020??? Malt extract brew

Post by rmuiritfc » Sat Mar 15, 2008 10:21 am

I have made a brew with two tins of malt extract in it and the fermenting stopped at 1020. I then put another tin of malt extract in and added another yeast (as the brew shop informed me they had some yeast back from other brewers this was dry yeast in a packet youngs i think) and this has now fermented down to 1020???? i assume this now wont go any lower?? can any advise me what is the next best action.

No it was two tins of malt extract as the base of the recipe below i think it was 3kg.

3 KG EDME DARK MALT EXTRACT (2 TINS)
10oz CHOCOLATE MALT
3oz ROAST BARLEY
500g/17.5oz CRYSTAL MALT
3oz BLACK MALT
2oz + 1oz + 1/2oz TARGET HOPS
1 Tsp IRISH MOSS
YOUNGS ALE YEAST 5g

I have since added a second packet of dried yeast (Muntons gold) and the beer is 1020 again now. Should i just rack this off and barrel it at this???
