Creamy Head?

Post by Dazzer » Tue Apr 15, 2008 8:38 pm

If you pardon the pun,
I got planned a Murphys stout & guinness clone, wondering if you can create the same creamy head as you get out of a can :?:

I'm sure somebody said something about widgeits?

Just say if i'm talking stupid !!

The creamy head is the product of nitrogen in the beer instead of CO2. You can force nitrogenate in a keg. It's not proper beer though ;) plus it'll knock any aroma dead.

Nitrogen (and co2), a huge dose of late hops and torrified wheat. Those and a good check on how you brew will creat a nice creamy head.

Like the guys are saying, you need to get a N2/CO2 mix to 'carbonate' your beer with, plus a stout tap with a creamer nozzle. If you've already got a cornelius keg set up then it shouldn't be too big of a deal.

If you use a corny keg can you get a mixed gas to give it a creamy head. If so where from?
