problem ?

Post by umpa » Mon Aug 04, 2008 4:01 pm

Hi,

I make all my beers with a SG of 1.040 and usually end at 10.010

My kit beers usually ferment out in less than 10 days, but just l8ly using all spray malt and boiling it up from scratch, its still fermenting at 15 days - I even racked it into 2ndry and still get a glub from the airlock every 2 mins, its at SG 1.010.

sould I wait it out ? - taste it ? bottle it ? - throw it ?

cheers

if you have transferred to a secondary so that it is not sitting on the yeast bed you lose nothing by leaving it a few more days. I certainly wouldn't throw it.

Has the gravity been down to .010 for a while now or is it still dropping?

If I were kegging I'd go ahead and keg, not sure I would want to bottle if it's still that active, though I'm not a bottler so someone else may have better thoughts on that.

So taken the decision to bottle (youngs bottles from wilco's) and i'll put them in plastic boxes with lids on in case they xplode...

Sometimes when fermentation has finished you still get a little airlock activity as c02 is slowly being released from the beer!
