help with hefeweizen recipe

Post by davey1889 » Mon Aug 25, 2008 2:09 pm

I am trying to make a hefewiezen and I have found this recipe

http://www.tastybrew.com/newrcp/detail/93

I'm a bit confused about the recipe though. Can anybody help with these questions ?

Which Muntons extract are they referring to Light , Medium or Dark ?

Does LME mean Liquid Malt Extract or Light Malt Extract ?

When it says add the Muntons and Alexanders after 1 hour of boiling what should be boiled for 1 hour ( other than the water ! ) as all the ingredients seem to go in after 1 hour.

Any help gratefully recieved

It will most certainly be light Muntons for a hefe

and the wheat LME will be Liquid Malt Extract

as for the procedure it looks like you get you water to boiling, take it off the heat add your extracts, and then back on the boil for an hour? does this sound about right?

sound like a good recipe, I've only ever made one hefe, quite good, and that used Hallertauer also.

Have a good brewday, when you're doing it?
