Other standard ingredients

Here and there on this forum people mention stuff they've used in their brewing. Leaving aside the plain odd (e.g. elderflowers) there are some standard ingredients. Is there a summary somewhere of what their purpose and effect is? For example, here's a list of what I can think of:
  • DME
  • Granulated sugar
  • Glucose
  • Dextrose
  • BodyBrew
  • Beer enhancer
I realize that a lot of these (if not all) are sugars and so will ferment, but what I'm after is why use one rather than another: what is the relative effect of each?

BTW, feel free to add any other ingredients to this list if you'd like to know their use. Maybe the experienced can enlighten us.

DME - dark malt extract (spray malt) comes in different colour light to dark this stuff ferments to make beer.

DME- diastatic malt extract, used by extract brewers to mash other grains as it has the enzymes still

Sugar - ferments fully leaves no flavours good in strong beers where you already have a lot of malt try the posh brown ones they give nice flavours

Glucose- for high alcohol beer or no flavour beer

Dextrose - see glucose

dextrins - do not ferment and leave mouth feel, body and head

Bodybrew - maltodextrine so as above

Beer enhancer - a mix of dextrose and maltodextine so gives alcohol, body and head
