I decided to brew up a "throw it together" extract recipe today, and b&gg!r me if my Brupak's boiler didn't stop working. I had to transfer the wort to three stainless pots, and share out the hops between the three pots. What a nightmare!
Then after I finished, I tried the boiler and it started working again!!
I'm going to call this brew "Unlucky Ale"

Been there with the boiler just stopping. Finally pushed me into replacing it. I think it's because the element gets covered in scale and crap. Cleaning it with wire wool should help.
Hope the brew turns out OK.

I've trained her to know better!
I think the safety cut-out tripped for some reason. Maybe some extract got scorched on the element? My boiler is a brupaks boiler.
I think this was a lesson for me not to get stressed...which I didn't!

I just calmly transferred to three stainless stock pots (lucky I had them!). I then transferred back to the boiler so that I could cool using my CFC. This is where I may have done some damage as the hot wort got pretty aerated during transfer to the boiler.

In the session I meantioned earlier, I spent a very long night resetting the cut out every time it popped. The element was scorched which caused it to overheat. Cleaning it with wire wool did fix it. I would seriously recommend you do this before brewing again otherwise it'll only get worse.

The element on my boiler is beneath some sort of flat cover, not sure I want to attack it with wire wool?

i just filled my boiler with a wwp solution and left overnight, when i rinsed it out the element was sparkling clean, no stains in the boiler or smell either. much easier
cheers

That's a much better solution, Colin. Where were you when my boiler packed up?

Thats the same thing that happened to me on my first boil, and i concluded the extract was scorched onto the element .Once it was cleaned up no probs.

Well, "Unlucky Ale" is fermenting away nicely.

"Unlucky Ale"
That name is really tempting fete
As you managed to rescue the ale can't it be called Lucky Ale

You're right Vossy, I'll call it "Lucky Escape" instead.
