New extract brewer

I started home brew this year and have gone down the kit route to begin with. However, when we move into next year I'd like to take the next step and move to extract brewing. I've had a good root round the site, but in some ways it maybe suffers from too much information. Would someone be able to provide me with a simple ale recipe and instructions on how to proceed. I don't want anything too complicated at this stage, but a brew that will gently introduce me to the nicities of extract would be very much appreciated. Carpe cerevisi!
