I dunno whether its strictly correct or not, but I did this viewtopic.php?f=3&t=22419 which made about 4.5 litres which fits in a Demijohn. I've been using Grahams Beer Engine software to juggle things around with the recipes, so hopefully things will work out.

I'm planning to experiment with small brews and work my recipes around a 1.5kg tin of Coopers Liquid Extract (probably meaning, that I get a brew length of between 7 - 12 Litres, depending on the brew). I've ordered a 15 litre FV bucket to make this easier. :)

**edit**
I have two reasons for this...
1/ its an experiment
2/ Liquid Malt Extract works out cheaper than Dry Malt Extract in my opinion

A gallon (or however much those demijohns hold) is about the smallest practical amount. Otherwise you lose nearly as much to sediment and spillage as you get to drink. It doesn't cost much to make a gallon, but you do want to make enough that you can have a few of them if it turns out good.
