Hello Everybody,
Can anyone guide me I am adding bits to kits but the hop extract in the kit seems to bitter so I am thinking of trying 500grm bags of Sraymalt boiled with hops and a little dem sugar. I have quite a stock of spraymalt and kits . As soon as they run down I am going to try mashing as I think extracts of any kind are a very poor copy of the real thing. do you agree . has anyone got a suitable recipe for bitter for Spraymalt.

Re: SPRAYMALT BREW
There's plenty of scope to brew from extract, as that's what I've been using for the past 12 months. If you use software like BeerSmith or BeerEngine, they'll help you work out the 'correct' bitterness, colouring, gravity etc i.e you can tweek your brews, without having to commit anythig to your brew pot.fisherman wrote:Hello Everybody,

Owwwww one thing, do you condition your beer i.e leave it for a few weeks before drinking, as it does help to take off some the harsh bitterness?
Fermenting - Nothing
Conditioning - Nothing
Drinking - Tea
Planning - Everything, if only I had the time ... !!

should give you some ideas. Depending on the bitter, you'll probably also need crystal malt. You'll find extract brews are leagues above kits.

Personally I'd leave the demerara sugar out unless there is a specific calling for it in the recipe, or unless you particularly like the taste.
