Dry hopping in primary or secondary??
Dry hopping in primary or secondary??
Hi I'm looking for advice on when to dry hop. I am using loose hops for an IPA, I have read its best in the secondary but my only concern is how do I bulk prime when the wort contains loose hops?
Re: Dry hopping in primary or secondary??
Hi,
I used to do secondary fermentation but have jacked it in due to infection risk and hassle after reading up a lot on the subject. I usually wait until the beer is fermented down to around 1.020 and then I drop the hops in for 5 days. I then rack this off into wherever the conditioning will take place (usually a corny keg).
If your fermentation vessel is also your bulk priming vessel I would get another bucket and do the bulk priming in there by siphoning off the fermented beer away from the hops,

Hi,
Like faeyd I just add it into the primary about 5 days into the fermentation. I've only done 3 brews like this but they've all turned out pretty decent.
