Probably best to drink it quick. I doubt it'll keep well.

But you were probably planning to do that anyway. :)
How quick depends on how well my wife does during her upcoming open heart surgery.

Crikey, all the very best to you both.

The surgeon was happy with how it went. He expects my wife to be released in 7-9 days.
I am profoundly relieved and extremely exhausted.

The beer turned out pretty good, considering how primitive the brewing conditions were. I had several pints.

Great news. You deserved a few beers after that. :)

Got a call from my wife's surgeon a couple of hours ago and he's very happy with her progress. I even got to say a few words to her. She sounded quite out of it, but I've never heard a better sound.

Good to hear.
Sommeliers recommend that you swirl a glass of wine and inhale its bouquet before throwing it in the face of your enemy.

That is wonderful news. I hope she is on the mend and back home with you again soon.

My wife's improved enough to be moved out of ICU as soon as a regular room becomes available.

I know the surgery saved my wife's life, but if you've never seen anyone after open heart surgery (triple bypass and a valve replacement) it is quite shocking:a ton of bruises and LOTS of stitches.
Luckily we got her to the hospital before a heart attack.

Yes, surgery is a very invasive thing. My wife had major surgery several years ago and it was a shock to see how it affected her. It's amazing how they recover over time though; what looks like a massive wound straight afterwards becomes a barely-detectable white line after a year or so.

It looks like she's going to be released tomorrow or Thursday.
When I went to see her this morning a tired looking little old lady got on the lift with me. Her husband had the same operation: triple bypass. The poor old sod then had a stroke. :(

Got some good news. Most open heart surgery patients have to take blood thinners for a while after getting released, but my wife's heart has improved enough that she won't have to.
