Well it's out the 1st FV and the finings are in.

1st thing i noticed is the yeast bed. This pic was taken on a good slope. The kit yeast would work it's way down to the lowest point. This stuff hasn't move a bit.

Rocks??? - thats crazy talk - just weigh it down with some grain or push it in with your long brewers spoon (you have got one haven't you?)

Sounds nice: haze wont affect the taste.

The haze has nearly all gone. That glass was straight out the FV after a week.

I've tried it again today - to check if the finings have worked ;) and it's a little dry to pallet. Over done it with the bittering hops?

I understand it's still a baby and the taste will change in a little while.

Just to answer my own question with a quote:-
Another variable to watch with respect to wort volume is hopping. If the recipe calls for 2.5 ounces of hops for a five-gallon batch and you end up with 2.5 ounces in a four-gallon batch, be prepared for more bitterness than the recipe describes.
My 23 litre recipie is at 17 litres turning my bitterness from an IBU of 30 to 37.

Quick update..

Wow! It's been in the keg nearly 24 hours and the bitterness is spot on. The dryness is all but gone.

Oh and the colour is also better. Might be because the fingings have cleared it up a treat.

Its only 17 days since you put it on!!!

Your first will always go quickly. The trick is to keep your hands off it for long enough until it gets really good.

Like I always do!! :---)
