BIAB #3 Pilgrim Fathers
Re: BIAB #3 Pilgrim Fathers
Update on this one: I have drunk about half the batch last night with my parents and neighbour. Seriously, this is damn good beer. I stored the beer in my garage which is hovering around freezing at the moment, and week of this has helped the beer has clear to be the "brightest" batch I have brewed yet, I can read a newspaper through it. Another week of conditioning will see it as clear as any commercial brew. The flavour is pleasant, neutral, inoffensive with good hop nose and plenty of sparkle. Like a really decent blonde ale from the pub, in fact. Mouthfeel is spot on. Most exciting to me, this beer also has a great foam head (can you say cherry on top?) which is what my last two beers were missing. Criticisms: I miss the big flavour notes of the previous beers that were made with S04 yeast. I guess I am at heart an English ale guy. That said, this has been overall my most pleasing batch yet, and definitely the best one to share with commercial beer drinkers or for a party.
