Biab 2 a few issues!!!!

Post by timbo41 » Wed Dec 19, 2012 7:12 pm

Biab 2 " ringwood porter" from worcester hop shop...had a few issues this one!
Mash was fine but John if you're out there could suggest a mash schedule/ hop addition timings be included with kit please, just to avoid having to log on and check
Got boil on , first addition in then noticed a distinct sagging of old sony tv stand I was using as a brewing table. EEEK!
Boil off, drain off into pb,or would have done if hop filter hadnt totally blocked new design underway.
Luckily(?) my hop filter is push in and hope variety so with a bit of faffing managed to dislodge it and drained out direct from bulkhead SPILLAGE 2 litre
Shifted boiler to shed, stronger table , manhandled pb with 25 litres very hot wort in there, realised table very high and couldnt safely lift pb high enough to decant. Out came big jug. Spillage 1 litre and minor scalding. Blah blah see how this is going

Anyhow have now got brew in fv
New filter, right height steel table needed
Brew really clouded probably due to farting it about..sorry beer
Off to A+E in a bit :)
Just like trying new ideas!

Feel for you man, we've all been there. Now, of course, it'll be the best beer you've ever tasted and you won't know how to recreate it :)

Bad luck timbo - we have all been there! I think you need brewdays like that one to fully appreciate when things go smoothly. At least you still made the beer.

cheers guys..good learning curve if nothing else!
Made another voile bag for hops to avoid block- ups, with two old ss knives sewn into bottom seam as ballast.
NEXT UP...TIMOTHY TAYLOR LANDLORD.

Seymour, as resident recipe guru, get your head round a use for some flyer 8.6%A.A if you please, can combine with some styrian goldings, sovereign or pilgrim.
