Virgin biab brewer first brew
Virgin biab brewer first brew
Hi there. Sorry if this shows my ignorance. I have just bought a 32 Ltr Peco electrim boiler masher. Could anyone tell me what the maximum finished wort volume I could get out of this with biab please?

depends on the strength of brew/boil off etc. but you should easily get a 23l/5 gal batch of 5-6% in it

Thanks Secla. I will be aiming for beers between 3 and 4%.

Re: Virgin biab brewer first brew
I don't like strong beers, I prefer easy drinking quaffing beers nowadays you see. By the way, by volume I was meaning how many gallons /litres max that my 32 litre peco electrim boiler masher could produce using BIAB all-in-one methods. Ideally 5 gallons/23 litres per brew or as near as poss to this. Any tips or advice on procedures or simple nervous beginner recipes would be appreciated. Thanks

If you are willing to try dunk sparking or post mash liquor top up you can theoretically get up to 32 L - (boil off rate x boil length) - trub losses.
E.g if boil off is 3L / hour, and you lose 1.5 L to trub & hops, then a 90 min boil will give you 26 L into the FV, assuming you fill the kettle after the mash.

So it should be do-able to get a 5 gallon/23 litre brew out of it no bother then?
Are there any folks on here who brew with this peco electrim 32 litre digital boiler masher? Anyone got any simple procedures/instructions/advice/tips for brewing BIAB with it? Any handy videos using it?
Thanks.
I'm a total grain / BIAB newbie.

You should be able to get 23L out of that boiler.
'No bother' Depends on how much you like:
- squeezing the grain bag
- meticulously calculating your mash, boil and trub losses
- dunk sparging
- topping up your liquor pre boil
- calculating all of that so that you still hit your numbers
