Bought a few all grain kits for 5 litre/1gallon batches which is my batch size of choice (mostly hobby and dont drink tons, plus equip/space). These come with a big markup compared to 5 gallon kits despite having a 5th less hops and malt, but the same yeast packet.
So has anyone found somewhere affordable for this? My other options seems to be using geterbreweds recipe builder and just adding found/own recipes on there and buying a few at once to save on postage.

Buy a 5 Gallon kit plus a few extra yeast packs, make sure the grains are well mixed and split into 5 packs. Hey presto, 5 x 1 Gallon beer kits!
Either that, or make up your own recipes/kits using individual malts. Buy pale malt, a bit each of crystal, black, torrefied wheat, etc. and a few packs of suitable hop varieties, plus some yeast packs.

Crossmyloof works out pretty expensive £10 for a 1 gallon kit and if you use their custom weights to make a recipe its V expensive compared to geterbrewed.
I appreciate the suggestion of the 5 gallon kit but im wanting to try different recipes mostly

A few of the online suppliers do their own recipe builders but for small batches it’s probably cheaper to work out what you need for a number of brews at a time and then “bulk” order the grains and hops. Just ensure that you mix the grains thoroughly before weighing them, assuming that you are having to buy pre-crushed.

Malt Miller and build recipies, just order a few at a time to keep shipping reasonable.
Your biggest problem is probably yeast, liquid gets expensive very quickly if you don't want to freeze/store yeast ( liquid or dry) then you can try to do a number of sequential batches with the same yeast.

Seriously.. I get the feeling you want to learn, try and experiment.
Write down your fantasy brew list, for the next 10 or so brews. Then get a few stores in. Grain does not go off that quickly. You might want to get a small mill or grinder.
Dried yeast is very good. And keeps well in a fridge. CML do 5 packs for under £10.
Occasionally you can do a "use up" which will teach you loads and pleasantly surprise you.
