1 week on from kegging and I've had another sample.

This time I compared it to the real thing. The clone is on the right:

As you can see the colour is spot on. Only difference in taste at this stage is the real one tastes a bit more hoppy and the clone tastes more smooth. Very happy with the clone though!

PhilB, I've been converting the Hobgoblin recipe from Banksy (link) and have a question. The first hop additions are at 60min. Does this mean I do a 60min boil as apposed to 90min?

Basically yes, 60 min boil should be fine

Hi Alex, thanks for the great thread, some great tips & I've took a punt on one of those stock pots. Loved it was click & collect. I can take a bit of time experimenting with this set up, more than the 1 gallon stove top brews I've been doing of late

No problem Chris. I've done another brew since, Way to Amarillo. It is the best brew I've done by far!! So refreshing and hoppy.

I've also bought some air tight blue drums off eBay so I can store grain when I buy a 25kg sack next time I order. I am hooked!!

The pot is great too, I see no reason for me to change it.
Enjoy mate.

Alex, that is exactly what I am after! (is it wrong that all I want for Xmas is grain?? Wife thinks I am nuts). Any chance of a link to the ones you bought?

Thanks

I thought I had a blank one somewhere but I can't find it.

I originally used the London Pride one from the link on Brew UK : http://db.tt/kPGkoDkC

Hope this helps

... WHAT!!! Wales Ales moving to the dark side!! FFS, he'll be mashing dead animals, most probably road-kill, before we know it

Cheers, PhilB

P.S. Alex, you're doing a great job of encouraging and helping people take steps into BIAB over here, keep up the good work =D> =D> =D> ... just be prepared for when WA asks "What temperature should I be mashing my cock at?" ... I don't know the answer either, but you should be prepared
