Does any1 biab with a boiler and mash tun?
Mash in a cool box or simalr then transfer to a boiler
wash thinking it might get rid of alot of trub when grain is taken out in just 1 vessel
at the min i just use a boiler for mashing and boiling but wondered if any1 used another way

I can't say that trub is an issue for me. Not enough that I'd want to complicate it to that degree at least.

Google " counter top Brutus 20" it uses a cooler/cool box gives clear wort n is very very easy to clean.

Would be a good bit of kit to have.looks a bit complicated for me tho haha
i was thinking getting a large cool box so i could do full volume mash then run the wort into boiler and take it from there

It does work but if you can keep your main boil pot warm for mash i just used a sleeping back and a jumper over that and it held 65 for a hour.For me less equipment out meant less hassle less cleaning up.It does work but its just adding extra work.

My 50l stainless steel pot holds 66 degrees for 90 minutes no problem, I just put a fleece over it.

Think ill stick to one pot like u guys say its less cleaning to do.

I do 2 vessel BIAB - I have a separate mash tun for the full volume mashing then at the end of the mash cycle, I transfer this to my boiler. I only do 12L batches now (for variety etc) so my typical full volume mash water is around 17.5L. If I wanted to brew slightly more volume into the FV, I'd withhold maybe 4 litres of mash water then add this plus some more as a batch sparge addition after initially draining the tun.
I've been doing this for 5 brews so far and it seems to work well enough for me - no additional sparge hassle etc and I get clear wort into the boiler. I use HERMS in my system also to keep full control over mashing temperature.

this is what im about to do, i ordered a 50 litre cool box today.
hlt will become my boiler after a full length mash and i'm gonna transfer liquid with a 12v solar pump.
main reason for me was because i can't be bothered to make a decent biab bag and can't justify spending £30 on a custom made bag when my cool box only cost £50!
from what i've read i wouldn't worry too much about trub etc. i recently read an article online where someone emptied the complete contents of post boil (liquor, trub, hops etc) into fermenter, cooled it and pitched yeast and it turned out to be a decent brew.

I read some where, iirc. Pier 101 site / brewery. He did two brews the same and one of the brews he allowed some trub to go into the FV, I 'lll see if I can find the link. But in the mean time, have a guess which beer came out clear.

I think the cool box mash should be clearer but i bet its the other way round lol

Intresting read just goes to show a bit of trub isnt that bad.the 1 i brewed the other day might turn out good because that was full of trub
