Fermenting, dry hopping and serving from the same corny

Post by floydmeddler » Wed Jan 12, 2022 5:45 pm

Hi folks,

I brewed a little 8L BIAB IPA to carry out a bit of an experiment. Beer has been brewed and is now in a corny keg. Plan is to ferment it in there, dry hop it loose with pellets and serve it.

Have made one of these so that I can draw the beer using a floating dip tube. https://www.kegland.com.au/floating-cor ... oater.html

Plan is to dry hop 85g of centennial, cold crash, leave for a week or so then start drawing off. Hops should be at the bottom of the keg so what could go wrong? My main worry is grassy flavours from the hops being in the keg. Will keep keezer at 1c to hopefully prevent this.

Has anyone tried this yet?

Any thoughts or advice welcome!

A King Keg top tap float and gas in tube costs £7 and does the job very well. All of my cornies are fitted with them.

I have a few of those KK floats too. What do you mean by 'gas in tube'?

I believe IPA means replacing the long beer out dip tube with a short gas one, then attaching the float to that via silicone tubing.

That's it the gas in tubes are on Aliexpress and the correct size of silicone tube is this one.

MM also sell a stainless float but the supplied silicone tube is not the correct size.

Cheers IPA. I may go for this as a permanent option in the future.
