Hi,
So I have managed to set up a home bar with two king kegs running to taps and a beer engine. After some messing about during my last brew they now work wonderfully (including a gas leak in the top tap which managed to bypass the check valve and give too much head from the beer engine fix). Anyway, I would like to know if anyone has set up a continuous gas feed to their king kegs using something similar to what I found on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Micro-Mat ... 2ee2195e77
I understand the working pressure for a king keg is anything up to 12 psi... I think. But instead of constantly refilling them up with gas, and more so the keg to handpull so I don't induce negative pressure inside that keg, I wanted to set up a gass feed system so I don't need to worry about topping up. Just wondered if anyone else has bought a regulator for this purpose and could shine some light onto what I should be looking at.
Cheers again
CO2 continuous feed to king keg
Re: CO2 continuous feed to king keg
So i decided to go with that link and set it up to the kegs when it arrives. I will report back
Re: CO2 continuous feed to king keg
So I got everything together and hooked up a soda stream cylinder to the regulator and then from one of the outputs (I have a two keg regulator) to the king keg and set the pressure to 10 PSI (not sure how high these kegs can go but after reading it doesn't seem much, just enough to push out the beer at a good slow rate since I have witbeer). Beer flowed very smooth and the reg allowed a nice slow stream of gas into the keg to keep things going. When finished I just turn all the taps off.
So yes it worked very well and the soda stream connector worked wonderfully all be it I had to make some improvised moficiation (which were not that improvised) to fir the cylinder to the regulator. Very cheap and good reg and works a treat. If anyone is interested I can put up some pics and try to find the ebay items for the entire set up.
Cheers

Re: CO2 continuous feed to king keg
Hey, that sounds great. I'm currently King Kegging as standard, and this is something I'm thinking about, so I would be very interested in your setup. I guess the soda stream this is a great idea, because it means I don't have to worry about obtaining 'trade' CO2 cylinders.data790 wrote:So I got everything together and hooked up a soda stream cylinder to the regulator and then from one of the outputs.

One question; doesn't 10 psi just push the beer through the beer engine? Or are you using a lager tap?
Cheers

Re: CO2 continuous feed to king keg
Hi. I will nip down to the celler and snap some pics after the missus has made breakfast
I use a check valve for the beer engine but decided to put another tap in as they need constant cleaning after wvery use. What i really need is a two way splitter on the jg tap ao i can use either as and when.
I can also find the check valve on ebay for you in a min of you like

Re: CO2 continuous feed to king keg
So what i did was to take off the screw brass valve thing from the regulator and use the fish tank regulator output straight in there instead - yeah i was amazed it fit since the reg uses inches and the fish tank thing uses mm. Screw that in and attatch the soda stream adaptor to the fish tank regulator and you are good to go. I will upload the ebay sellers in a min. Hope these pics help

And as promised the parts are:
Regulator: http://www.ebay.com/itm/201361809015?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT
soda stream adaptor and regulator appear to have been discontinued but their former listing were on ebay:
Sodastream Cylinder Adapter for Aquarium CO2 Regulators
( 281189282302 )
UP Plant Aquarium Simple Co2 Regulator A128
( 320727658587 )
I hope this helps.

Re: CO2 continuous feed to king keg
So just to add you will need to remove the rubber fromminside the keg attached to the valve otherwise it will restrict the trickle of gas. Another guy who put up the king keg john guest conversion suggested this and i used his advice... all be it a bit late
