Gas Free Ball Lock Line Cleaning Kit - PET Party Pump Combo

Post by f00b4r » Fri Dec 03, 2021 3:45 pm

It looks like a nifty little gadget from those Aussies, has anyone tried it? I am more sold on the idea of using it to take beer on picnics in the summer than for line cleaning (1.5L/2L PET brown beer bottles are easy to get hold of in Germany but in the UK I am guessing cider bottles are probably the easiest). It does mean that you would spoil any leftover beer by using air to pump it out, but is not going to be a problem with 1-2L PET bottle size 'kegs' right?

True. It doesn't look like two clowns having a fight.

I made a gadget recently that allows me to put a ball lock post on my kitchen tap.

It means I can flush hot water through disconnects, lines etc without gas. That little pump thing looks great though.
Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast, Seaweed, Blood, Sweat, The swim bladder of a sturgeon, My enemies tears, Scenes of mild peril, An otter's handbag and Riboflavin.

That’s pretty cool, any pictures? I’m thinking it would work pretty well linked in with a keg washer; wash with keg washer, rinse with your tap system and then sanitise afterwards with the rinsed out keg washer (good if you do a load at once).

Isn't there a topic on Jim's somewhere about converting a pump up sprayer to take a ball lock ? .

More than one I think. There have been some great DIY hacks over the years.

Having some problems posting pictures at the moment.

It’s basically just a post bulkhead (https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product ... -assembly/) threaded into a couple of bushes to get it up to 3/4” thread and then threaded into a hozelock style quick disconnect (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06Y16P4W9/).

I already had a hozelock style adapter for my kitchen sink tap (Flopro Threaded Mixer Tap Garden Hose Connector https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01B8G23ZE/)

My pump arrived last week and got a chance to use it today cleaning out 2 corny kegs.
Normally I pressurise the kegs with CO2 to push the cleaning solution and water flush through the out dip tube. With this I can clean the dip tube without using any CO2.
Well pleased.

I have been thinking about this and assume that you are having to either build two or unscrew the fitting to switch between grey and black disconnects?
I like the idea of having a quick flush system and was thinking about either one of these:

The attachment 41d+fl2MzVL._AC_SL1000_.jpg is no longer available
The former would be the more flexible (I have a hose connecter permanently connected to my tap) but I would probably want to see if I could get a food grade or SS version. Either would connect to some reinforced food grade PVC hose or aquarium hose and then a barbed disconnect, that I would likely removed the poppet from to make for easier cleaning/flow (for cleaning just unscrew the disconnect top, flush thorough and dry - no disassembling apart from that as they would be purposed for cleaning).
