Anyone remember these?

Post by f00b4r » Thu Mar 10, 2022 9:43 pm

I remember seeing these when I started homebrewing, but thought the company making them went bust. It seems someone in China has resurrected the idea:

Sounds like a great product:
Say goodbye to mutality in the beer thanks to a completely new, revolutionary reusable siege for home beer, Sider and sparkling wines!

Good old google translate!

So if I've got this right it is a way of extracting sludge from the bottom of bottles?

Yes the yeast settles out and then you remove that part.
You can change the language on AliExpress.

This is seems like a ridiculous product for a non-problem, but I still want to buy it!

The problem is that the written instructions are in an image, so translation software can't read it. However it's not too hard to work out how it functions.

I only use PET bottles for competitions and case-swaps, but could be handy for a competition entry.

I had a look at these, the seller is in Russia so no chance of me buying these on principle

Agree 100% with not buying something Russian for the foreseeable future!

It seems there used to be a company called sedex that made them (perhaps this is what was being referred to above); I watched an old craigtube video on them out of curiosity:

I can see the attraction now. Out of every batch you could do a few with this product so that you can take them to places and drink clear after transportation. For those you pour at home this seems pretty pointless though IMHO.

I remember when Craigtube was demonstrating them.
Sommeliers recommend that you swirl a glass of wine and inhale its bouquet before throwing it in the face of your enemy.

Enthusiastic presenter, and a great video. But won't be buying any of the clones from Russia either.

The Monty Python scene of the apology loud speaker van rolling through devastated rubble was classic.
