At the moment I am doing a plain old simple headcracker with 500g DME + 500g brewing sugar. 40 pints

Came out at about 5.5 %abv light and deffinatly a session beer.

However the all time has to be.

Headcracker + John Bulls Barley wine + 500g of Light DME to make 40 pints.

Niceeeeeeee :D

I was thinking of doing a variation on your headcracker/barley wine mix using the 9l brewferm diablo kit (og 1071) instead of the headcracker.

What abv do you normally get with your headcracker/barley wine????

Best for a laugh was a 1.8 kilo Chek. lager which i primed with small red thai chillies. (forget the make)

When poured looked innocent enough.

When Quaffed (by a pind down in 4 seconds gulper!) the affects were hilarious.

what with the price of Headcracker going up i have switched to John Bull Barley Wine and others.

However usually for my 40 pinter i end up with about 7.8%abv.

That's using about 5Kg in total mixture of DME,another 1.5 LME and the Barley Wine be it John Bull or Woodfordes.

All have been spot on nice. I used to drink it in pints but i get though it a lot quicker in 1/2 ladies pints.
