Yeast provided with Muntons Continental Lager

Post by Keviebaby » Sat Nov 03, 2007 5:04 pm

Hi,

Went to my LHBS this morning and came back with, among some other things, a Muntons Continental lager kit. I went for this one because it gives a bitterness level of 45-55 EBUs and I like my lagers on the hoppy side

As I want to ferment this a little cooler than I would for ales (trying for around 16C) I bought an extra sachet of yeast, Youngs Lager Yeast, which is a bottom fermenter, but I'm not sure if the yeast provided with the Kit is a lager yeast or not. Only markings on packet are 'GPB'

Does anyone know if it is a lager yeast or is it likly to be a sachet of Muntons Gold. I suspect the latter as the instructions provided seem to be generic ones for any kind of beer. I would expect at least a difference in the suggested fermentation temperature for a lager but it just states ferment between 18-20C.

Cheers,

Keviebaby

You are correct in your thinking.

Just use the Youngs yeast that you've bought
