SECONDARY FERMENTATION

Post by Philip » Sat Jan 05, 2008 12:32 am

This my first brew which is a Sheraton Premium Beer Kit.

I've fermented it OK and then I primed it with 2 1/2 oz of Glucose powder and transferred it to a non pressurised barrel but it is airtight. My question is:

Will it be OK in the secondary fermentation barrel WITHOUT Co2.
I intend to keep it 3 days at 18C and then a week in a cool place and then transfer it again into two corni kegs.

Second question is:
I do not get any hissing noise escaping from the screw on lid when I remove it. Is this normal.

It has been at 18c for 3 days and still no gas escapes from the screw on lid.

No sign of activity.

I did not have a Hydrometer then but I've now bought one.

It was 4 or 5 days in the primary.
