First Brew

Post by targ2002 » Sun Dec 21, 2008 4:57 pm

Just put my first brew in the barrel that came with the kit, (a youngs kit, with wherry), I primed it with 75g of sugar, and now the barrel has gone very solid, is this normal, i'm not really sure, I'm kind of worried that its going to expload, and I resisting the urge to drink some.

Has the barrel got anything looking like it might be a pressure release valve on top? Anything with rubber involved?

I know it has a gas injection valve but I'm not sure if this is also a relief value.

Ah, right. Is it a threaded, brass thing? If so, has it got a rubber band round it? The band may not be strikingly obviously a rubber band. But have a close look at anything round the bottom of the brass thing. That should be it. If it's there; No, ye barrel won't explode

Thanks ditch it does have a rubber band, and I'm glad it won't expload, it just means I don't have an excuse to drink any of yet, :( that will wait
