What have I started now, Kev? A run on the sales of Pear Drops?
Anyway, moments after making my above post, I lost my connection completely! Only just now got it back
Were it not for that enforced interlude, I had been
trying to convey my rather stunned and 'speechless' Thanks to you guys who've taken it upon yeselves to throw blips at the Coopers radar. I actually read ADM's initial post last night. Just as the headlights swept across my window and I dashed out the door. Time I got back, I was in no state to be doing much else. Then, as I tried to respond today, look .....
I'm most flattered and touched by such displays of camaraderie, lads. God knows what Coopers will make of it all, 'mind!
Unfortunately, regardless of what they might or might not say, I'm quite unable to visit Australia, I'm afraid. Simple fact is, I have my creatures to look after here and so can't be away for twenty four hours
But never mind all that. Is their CEO
really a Mr
Burge??? I mean, ADM, ye haven't been sniffing around my Family Tree have ye, and all this being a vast and superbly orchestrated wind up? Only That's just freaking me Right out!
Ye see, my Great Grandmother ~ a woman whose picture alone held me fascinated all through my childhood, and who the truth of, learned in later life, is nothing short of legendary ..... Her name was
Polly Burge!!!
(Yes! 'Twilight Zone' music Again! How spooky's This getting?!)
For fear of causing Mr Burge any further disquiet about the potential of his own blood line, I'll say no more. But I'd Love to have a chat with him about it, if he has any interest in Genealogy. Let's just say I can well and truly see one or more of 'my' Burge's ending up in Australia, back in the day. Ye 'couldn't take them anywhere' and I could entirely envisage someone deciding Botany Bay might be a good place to
send them!
