All,
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I got a couple of Brewferm kits for Christmas (the Abbey and the Diavolo). I haven't made a Belgian kit before so was wondering if there were any tips I needed?
I might try to put some home made candi sugar in with the table sugar. Is there anything else I should be aware of?
Cheers
Verno
Brewferm Belgian kits - any tip
Re: Brewferm Belgian kits - any tip
For the belgian kits ive always just added glucose powder instead of the sugar it suggests and adjusted to add 2 kits into a 25L ferment (depends on the kit as the volumes are different) Ive done the Diablo previously and it was great, i made 80 bottles of the Frambrosen for christmas and it went down a storm with family and guests we had over - no homebrew taste at all and all at 4.7%. Can recomment the frambosen kit, its not like the ones you get from the supermarket or on tap, its just like a good beer with a nose of raspberry.
As said before conditioning is key, opening before they tend to be a little bitter and leave a greasy mouth - rest assuure this does go away in about 6+ weeks ideally you want to leave it a little longer.

Generally leave them a couple weeks longer than the stated 6 or so...the longer the better really with these Belgians.
