Wherry tastes odd this time

Post by mickhew » Tue Mar 31, 2009 8:26 pm

Hello. I did a Wherry kit last time, and barrelled it, tasted LOVELY and I drank it within 2 weeks.
This time, I have put another Wherry kit into bottles, PET AND glass ones, as I wanted to see if there's much difference in flavour. Both PET and bottled samples taste funny (1 week in the warm, 8 days in the garage, the kegged kit was fine from day 5) , like a rubbery, synthetic flavour, despite thoroughly sterilising everything as before. Wondering if I went wrong anywhere ?? I racked the FV into another bucket, and used a little bottler. Have searched, and can't find any tips. Thanks.

Hi Mick,

Was just reading your post and was curious as I'm still doing a ferment, condition and drink from the same keg wherry kit. So I thought I'd have a look and see what I can find on this because I figured I may have this problem soon if I don't drink the beer pronto.

Here's an interesting link:

Might be something in it!

I'm going to leave in the bottled for 2 more weeks, then bin it if it's still bad. Was only in the f.v for 10 days, can't understand it. I'm going to blame the yeast this time.
